Dell Ad Campaign Essay -- GCSE Business Marketing Coursework

Dell Ad Campaign The biggest area of expansion for Dell is the consumer market. In order to develop more sales in this market Dell needs to focus more advertising on the needs and wants of the consumer. Currently Dell promotes its direct model, which is a key factor Dell needs to create a better position for itself in the consumer market. With all of the PCs in the market being more or less equal, Dell needs to focus on what differentiates its products from the competition, namely service and support. The advertising campaign need to focus on the emotions of the PC users as oppose to merely their logical side. With a strong emotional ad campaign focusing on the anxieties and fears of the consumers when it comes to making the decision for a computer purchase Dell can reassure the consumers that we are there for them. The direct model and more importantly the virtual integration should be the focus of the campaign as oppose to a â€Å"teen-age† part-time employee at your local mall. Why would anyone want to go into a super store where the salesperson pitches everything under the sun to you before you finish telling them what it is you need. With the build-to-order direct way Dell operates â€Å"you tell us what you want, we don’t tell you what you want.† The advertisement campaign will need to be coordinated in print, television, radio and obviously the Internet. Dell can also integrate the direct mail pieces and catalogs with the new pitch to further expand its reach and frequency. Dell can also continue to work towards the small and medium businesses through this strategy using a similar â€Å"mirror† campaign in the trade publications and in trade show displays. The idea will be to have the campaign as recognizable and incorporating the â€Å"Be Direct† slogan that made Dell what it is. According to the Boston Consulting Matrix a â€Å"Star† is in a high growth market such as the PC market and the company has a high market share as in Dell’s case. With a â€Å"Star† the recommended strategy is to build. In this case the all of Dell’s products, desktops, notebooks, workstations, and servers fall into the â€Å"Star† scenario and as such Dell needs to utilize strategies that will build the market. By building the market a company can realize the maximum potential of the product line, if a â€Å"Star† is left alone its true potential may never be realized. With the PC marke... ...are being discussed and investigated. Given the failure Dell had in the retail channel these experiences could be shown to bring more customers to the direct model which would be informative for the consumer. With Dell’s â€Å"Be Direct† position already commonplace, Dell will be associated with the direct model to cut off the competitors trying to â€Å"be like Dell†. Advertising Schedule As stated in our recommendations we will be beginning an advertising campaign to increase Dell’s share of mind and share of heart in the market. The campaign will be primarily focused on the consumer and small business segments. A pulsing strategy is recommended, built around our existing sales trends. The campaign will run for nine months from April to December, with three different but related messages. Below is our corresponding sales trend that will allow us to best choose the pulsing strategy. As you can see from the trend line between April and December our peak sales times are April, July and August, and December. We will schedule our strongest reach and frequencies to correspond to these peaks. By increasing our total GRP during peak months Dell can best use its advertising resources.

Business Communication Trends Essay

Business communication plays a big role in our daily work activities as individuals we must manage our daily activities depending on the trends and needs of our current workplace. There are ten Business communication trends the one that I will be discussing is on Quality and customer needs. Business Communication Trends Business communication is very important in my daily work environment. It is so important because we use this to communicate efficiently with our Managers to our customers. I work for The City of Indio in water department. My duties vary from customer service to Engineering administrative assistant. Business communication does play a big role in my day-to-day duties, because we have to be able to have great communication skills orally, and also we must use other communication technology efficiently like emails, letters, memos and phone or teleconferencing. In order to be a good representative we must be able to communicate effectively with our customers. The reason I say this is because we are responsible in making sure that we listen to what the customers needs are and that we are able to satisfactory resolve any issue that the customer might have. Many times when customers have a valid complain we must inform our supervisor via E-mail, depending on the level of urgency regarding the customers complains. I generally prefer to communicate this way because it creates a paper trail and it also protects me. Through these emails we must be able to communicate to our supervisor, what the issue is and what are the solutions that we can offer the customer. Then my supervisors will respond with either an approval or rejection. Then we can communicate with the customer and inform them what the end result is of their complaint. I have found that communicating with my supervisors via e-mail helps keep track of records, and if that same issue were to ever come up again we would have an e-mail that would be proof that particular issue was addressed and brought to our supervisors attention. If the issue is not resolved to the customer satisfaction it would be because there wasn’t a follow-up with the customer and we did not communicate in a professional manner. Business Communication Trends Working in a utility division comes with many challenges. When creating utility statement, wording has be to address in a manner where we are targeting an audience that can read and understand exactly what is being said in a normal monthly water utility bill . For example, what amount is due and when is it due. Many of our customers misinterpret or don’t understand the wording on the utility bills. This causes confusion, and can even cause customers to have the utility services interrupted, because they misinterpret their bill and did not know how to read it correctly. We all have spent countless hours rewording our statements and every time there is that one customer that is looking for a loop in the system to get away out of paying a payment or late fees. Our role as representatives is to ensure that are customer satisfaction is meet, and if there is an error where it might misguide our customers, we want to make sure that we correct the problem before it becomes a problem.

Colonization of a new world essays

Colonization of a new world essays Christopher Columbus discovery of a new world in 1492 led to a power struggle of enormous proportions throughout Europe over the next three hundred years. The taking of land and the treatment of its native peoples would define this struggle. Each major player in this chess game of colonization would have different means to reach their ultimate goals. The goals and means of these European powers would be have many similarities while at the same time differences that caused great animosity between countries. Columbus sailed for Spain and his arrival in the Caribbean would not only change the people and lands that he came into contact with, but it would change the entire world. Spain began its colonization of Latin America in search of wealth that could bring great power back home to Europe. The Spanish would claim land and control over it and its peoples through ceremony. On Columbus first journey he claimed islands for his king and queen with appropriate ceremony and words.1 These ceremonies and words were made official when recorded by the notary and land became official property of the Spanish empire.2 The Spaniards, while in search of wealth, had other goals as well. They believed it their duty to convert the heathens of this new land to Christianity.3 Many of the natives they would encounter would view the Europeans as spiritual beings. Hernan Cortes easily conquered the great Aztec city of Tenochtitlan because of these false beliefs. Upon his arrival in the city, the Aztec leader, Moctezuma Xocoyotzin, believed Cortes to be the god Quetzalcoatl returning to rule Mexico. Moctezuma decided not to resist the Spanish invasion directly and quickly lost his city and eventually the entire Aztec state. There are several other recorded cases in which the natives were very welcoming to their invaders because they believed they were supernatural spirits. Columbus concluded that the in...

Analytical Marriage and Young Girl Essay

Analytical Marriage and Young Girl Essay Analytical: Marriage and Young Girl Essay Young and the Restless In Angela Carter’s work, The Bloody Chamber, many tools are used to illustrate a dynamic young girl with an eager mind full of curiosity. The combinations of the tone and symbolism the reader can find reveal a great theme of this fairytale like short story of love, death and the path to independence. The use of figurative language and extremely descriptive imagery helps the reader to understand the sympathy and admiration of the main character is narrating in this piece. All of the tools combined set a great plot and imaginative mood for the audience. From the very beginning of this story, the narrator gives the audience the knowledge of how much she has changed. She is reminiscing on the early days right before her marriage as a poor young â€Å"child† living with her widowed mom. She transitions into a bride of an older rich man, and she feels a bit of guilt for her mother by ceasing â€Å"to be her child in becoming his wife (111).† Sympathy can be found betw een this mother daughter relationship. The mother is wary for her daughter because like any mother, she would not want her daughter going into a marriage with a man whom she does not love. When the love is questioned, the young girl dances around the question by saying she is sure that she wants to marry him. That’s all; she never says anything to reassure her mom of any love for this wealthy man. The only time she feels that she might be sure of loving him is when they go to the opera and she is so full of joy from the art that she mistakenly uses that as a sign. The specific details of her life let the reader know so much that it only fits to understand the characters exactly how Carter wants the reader to perceive them. The details about how the mother came to be widowed, how Marquis came to court the young girl, and her own thoughts about everything in her life changing. It appears to be that the young girl is so overcome with excitement and joy to be chased after, espec ially by a man of his own wealth that she hastily engages to him without really getting to â€Å"know him†. Because of many details we are given, we automatically can see that the timing of these occurrences is of an early date when this was socially acceptable to marry for the social and financial ladder. Another hint of the time set being an older one is the fact that transportation is used by trains, carriage, the old telephones and talk of the opera. One of the biggest symbols we see that foreshadow disaster is how the young girl keeps comparing her fiancà ©, Marquis, to white lilies. The funeral lilies are beautiful yet tense and emotionless as he is. She describes him to hold himself and compose his emotions so much that the little curve in his mouth indicating a smile or a long sigh of relief makes her believe that he truly wants her so badly. Yet these also show her hesitation and mistrust for him. He also has filled the bedroom with so many lilies that it would seem to foreshadow her own funeral to come after their consummation of their marriage. The gift that he gives her, the red ruby choker, is another big symbol that is noticed. The red rubies around her neck are so deeply colored it could probably resemble blood, give the idea of strangulation or a slit throat. The fact that he loves for her to wear it and he â€Å"kissed them before he kissed her mouth (121)† shows his fetish he has of this strange resemblance and how much he loves his wealth. Another disastrous event that turns the whole story is when he decides to give her keys to everything in the house, even his â€Å"private den† which he tells her she must not go into. He goes on and on about how if she really loves him she’ll leave the room alone, with this he is using a psychological tactic to make her do the exact opposite of what he says. â€Å"Oh and you’d find it such a dull little room! (124)† he says, this is something to say that would entice her to go into the room while he is away. This would spark the curiosity that
